Yarns for custom sweaters
Yarn selection for custom knitwear based on hand-feel, performance, gauge, target market and commercial needs.

Sweater yarns
Yarn decides how a sweater feels, how it wears and what it costs. We knit wool and wool blends, cashmere and cashmere blends, cotton and cotton–acrylic blends, viscose, polyamide and polyester, plus fancy yarns such as bouclé, mohair, chenille, slub and metallic. Certified options include GRS recycled yarns, RWS merino and OCS or GOTS organic cotton.
When you send a target price and market, we suggest a composition that fits, then knit a swatch or sample so you can judge handle, weight and drape before ordering. Dyed-to-order and certified yarns usually carry a yarn mill minimum of 25–100 kg per lot, so we plan colours and quantities with you from the start.
Yarn selection
We review composition, count, colour, gauge and end-use together so the yarn supports the garment rather than working against it.
What we knit
We work with wool, cashmere, cotton, viscose, acrylic, polyamide (nylon), polyester and a wide range of blends. For texture and statement pieces we also knit fancy yarns:
What is bouclé? Bouclé is a fancy yarn in which one strand is twisted loosely around another so that it forms small loops on the surface. Knitted, it gives a soft, textured, slightly nubby fabric that suits cardigans, jackets and coats. Because the loops can catch, we check snagging and hand-feel on the first sample.
